Arashi
They are a group who frequently said they have the ‘best comrades’ and became the best in the world. We felt their bonds by becoming one with them, and learned the importance of never giving up, even if the other team had a head start. When Sawa Homare (the captain of Nadeshiko Japan) came to our TV program, she claimed that they were bad at performing when it really counts, but during the real match, you were very strong (lol). Like Nadeshiko Japan, we will continue do our best to give even a little bit of strength to Japan!”
Actress Sakai Miki (33)
“Although I was wishing for a victory, I was extremely moved when you won with a penalty kick. Since Japan is in a rough state after the earthquake, I think their win will give strength for everyone to unite. This victory should continue to bestow strength [to the people].”
Actor and singer Kamiji Yusuke (32)
As I am of the same age as Sawa, I was given a lot of strength and courage. Also, since the women are doing their best, I thought I should take a step further to do my best as well.”
Actress Katase Nana (29)
After feeling the tenacity from the victory goal by Sawa during the extra time, I also felt that that goal gave a message to all of Japan to never give up! Including myself, I believe this was a win that bestowed courage to many women in Japan!”
Comedian Endo Shozo (40) of Cocorico
Congratulations, Nadeshiko Japan for becoming number one in the world! Ms. Sawa, let’s hold an “ athlete meeting” (a dinner party) once again! Let’s drink in front of the gold medal!”
Comedian Hide (40) of PENALTY
It was like watching a passionate movie. From watching the ladies, I learned that they will not waste their efforts and sweat. I am extremely grateful to Nadeshiko Japan for giving Japan energy and bravery through their triumph.”
Comedian Wakii (39) of PENALTY
“I honestly cried after seeing a win with such speed and power, even though they were losing. I think that Japan had a bigger desire to win; I also believe Japan had better techniques than the United States. Thank you for the passionate play!”
Actor and singer Tamaki Hiroshi (31)
“I think it was because of Sawa’s leadership that [Nadeshiko Japan] was able to demonstrate their strength. They were able to give Japan energy.”
Actor Shiina Kippei (47)
“In the first half, I thought that the power and speed of the team were no comparison with the American team’s, and America’s pass work and strategy were better than Japan’s in the first half. But, I want to give praise to [Nadeshiko Japan] for their attitude in never giving up.”
Actor Yanagiba Toshiro (50)
“I have no doubt to say that when [Nadeshiko Japan] won, Japan became one. This taught me the importance of unification.”
Yoshizawa Hitomi (26) of Dream Morning Musume/Hangry & Angry
“I received a mail from Sawa saying, ‘I might change the history of Nadeshiko’, but she is amazing in that she actually followed through with her words . Thank you for the passionate play.
