Not much movement in the box office chart this week, with “I Am Number Four” being the only new entry and “Super 8” still on top for the third straight week.
“Super 8″ once again made a nice sum of 142,383,500 Yen (1.77 million USD), totaling up to 1.25 billion Yen (15.57 million USD) after a total of 17 days in theaters.
“Andalucia” wasn’t able to stand against the never-ending popularity of “Pirates of the Caribbean” and eventually lost it’s second place position after two hard weeks. It probably won’t have a lot of time to become comfortable with third place, because “Harry Potter” will be opening next weekend and has a very good chance of finding its way to the top.
Teen science fiction film “I Am Number Four” opened at fourth place – no pun intended – with 61,945 sold tickets and a revenue of 77 million Yen (960,000 USD); with Friday 102 million Yen (1.26 million USD).
No new Japanese movies opened this weekend, so don’t bother searching for the obligatory trailers at the end of the article.
