Singer-songwriter miwa will have her song, “FRiDAY-MA-MAGiC“, be used as the theme song for the upcoming drama “Ouran High School Host Club“!
The drama is a live-action adaptation of Hatori Bisco’s popular manga series, which revolves around a poor student named Haruhi (Kawaguchi Haruna) who enters Ouran Gakuen. She accidently breaks a vase and is forced to join the school’s “Host Club” by the club president, Tamaki Suo (Yamamoto Yusuke). Daitou Shunsuke, Ryuusei Ryou Nakamura Masaya, Takagi Shinpei, Takagi Manpei, and Chiba Yudai also co-star in the drama.
Producer Kan Satoshi chose miwa’s song for the drama himself, and revealed that he was looking for “a cheerful pop song by a young female artist that brings energy and happiness to listeners.” When he heard miwa’s first album “Guitarissimo“, Kan felt that “the fresh power of the song was perfect for the young and vigorous image of the drama.”
“Ouran High School Host Club” begins airing on July 22nd.
