Momoiro Clover Z to cut their hair if their album doesn’t hit #1?

On July 27th, five-member idol group Momoiro Clover Z held an event to celebrate the release of their first album, “Battle and Romance“.
Riding in the back of the “Momoclo Election Car”, the group made a memorable speech in front of the Tokyo Tower. “Are there any idol groups that make you as energetic (as Momoclo)?” shouted Nankai Candies member Yamasato Ryouta to the crowd. Member Tamai Shiori added, “If this album isn’t number one, I’ll cut my hair!”
Earlier that morning, the girls jumped into the Momoclo Election Car and took a trip to Ebisu, where they visited multiple shrines and began doing PR for their album. After noon, the group then performed a free live in Shinjuku Station Square, where they performed four new songs off their first album. Approximately 4,000 people showed up to the live without any advance notice.
Momoclo visited Harajuku, Shibuya, and Aoyama before stopping at their final destination: Tokyo Tower. There, they made a speech to commemorate the launch of their very first album, as approximately three hundred fans and members of the press watched on.
“The album is one where you can hear the various faces of Momoclo, from intense, ‘battle-like’ songs to ‘romance-like’, slow songs, so we’d like a lot of people to listen to it,” said leader Momota Kanako to the crowd. She continued, “And also, this year we’re really aiming for Kouhaku (Uta Gassen)!”
Member Takaki Reni also commented, “Please get this album up to number one on the hit chart with your backing and support.”
On the first day, Momoiro Clover Z’s album ranked just one place behind the coveted top spot, which was taken by B’z and their new album “C’mon.
