"Harry Potter 8" / "Kamen Rider OOO" & "Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger" / "Transformers 3"
As with every year, it wasn’t the only ‘tokusatsu‘ movie that opened in theaters for some quality summer entertainment. The 35th ‘Super Sentai’ series, “Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger” also attracted a lot of movie-goers. Furthermore, the “Kamen Rider” series is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, convincing even more people, young and old, to check out their heroes on the big screen.
293,147 people eventually decided to watch them on the opening weekend, grossing 349,565,200 yen (4.5 million USD).
Meanwhile, “Harry Potter” already crossed the 6 billion Yen mark (77.26 million USD).
“Transformers 3” is near the 2 billion Yen (25.75 million USD), “Cars 2” overtook the 1 billion Yen (12.87 million USD), “Pokémon” can be happy about 2.5 billion Yen (32.2 million USD). Meanwhile, Studio Ghibli’s “Kokuriko-zaka Kara“ already grossed more than 2 billion Yen.
The second new entry in the top 10, the movie-adaption of “Kochikame” starring Katori Shingo, Karina, and Hayami Mokomichi, made it onto seventh place with a revenue of 98,681,550 Yen (1.27 million USD). Fukada Kyoko, Tanihara Shosuke, Sawamura Ikki, Ibu Masato, and other well-known actors are known to make appearances in the movie.
