AKB48 sister group, SKE48, released their first single with avex back on July 27th called, “Pareo wa Emerald”. The group entered the Oricon Weekly Ranking at #1 , selling 379,000 copies. This is SKE48’s second consecutive first place win, and they’ve become the highest selling AKB48-related group (aside from AKB48).
They have outsold NMB48’s debut single, “Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo” (218,000 copies), and Maeda Atsuko’s solo single “Flower” (177,000 copies).
This single has also outdone their previous single, “Banzai Venus”, in just one week! “ Banzai Venus” sold a total of 273,000 copies, meaning that “Pareo wa Emerald” is the group’s best single by around 100,000 copies.
Furthermore, two SKE48 members entered the high ranks of “AKB48’s 3rd Senbatsu General Election”. Matsui Rena came in at #10 and Matsui Jurina came in at #14, guaranteeing them spots as senbatsu members in AKB48’s latest single, “Flying Get”.
