Rock singer, Himuro Kyosuke raised a total of 669,220,940 yen (around $8.7 million USD) from his charity live and this large sum was donated to the disaster area; Fukushima, Miyagi, and Iwate.
As we reported earlier, Himuro held a charity live at the Tokyo Dome on June 11th, and 12th, and it was the first time for Himuro to perform BOΦWY ’s songs at his live after the band’s disbandment back in 1988. The charity live pulled in a total audience of 104,000 and made it the biggest scale charity live ever in Japan.
Himuro strongly wished to send the money directly to the disaster area, however, he is currently in Los Angeles. Therefore, he asked NTV’s news program “NEWS ZERO” that was involved in Himuro’s charity live from the planning, to donate the money on behalf of Himuro. A newscaster of “NEWS ZERO”, Murao Nobutaka visited all three prefecture, and handed the donation (223,073,646 yen or around $2.9 million USD per prefecture) to each prefecture governor.
Himuro commented, “As over 6 months have passed since the earthquake, it’s about the time when there could be some feelings lost between us and the people effected in the disaster areas. So I hope that people in the media and people like us can release our comments and statements to the public, taking the role to bridge the gap.”
