Popular idol group AKB48’s latest single “Ue kara Mariko” which was released on December 7th, sold 959,280 copies on the first day, and topped the Oricon daily single ranking.
With this achievement, it has become the 3rd best selling song on it’s release day in Oricon’s history after their previous singles “Kaze wa Fuiteiru” (sold 1,045,937 copies on the first day), and “Flying Get” (sold 1,025,952 copies on the first day).
“Ue kara Mariko” is the first song centering Shinoda Mariko who won “the 2nd Janken Taikai” held back in September.
