Seven AKB48 members to appear in New Ultraman movie

It’s been revealed that seven members of AKB48 will be making an appearance in the upcoming ‘Ultraman‘ movie, “Ultraman Saga“.

Members Akimoto Sayaka, Miyazawa Sae, Umeda Ayaka, Masuda Yuka, Kobayashi Kana, Sato Sumire, and Shimada Haruka will form a Earth Defense Force called “Team U”, who’ll be working with the Ultraman heroes. This will be the first time that the Earth Defense Force will appear in the series.

“Ultraman Saga” tells the story of Ultraman Zero (DAIGO), Ultraman Dyna (Tsuruno Takeshi), and Ultraman Cosmos (Sugiura Taiyo), who join forces with human beings to restore hope and peace on Earth, which has been invaded by mysterious aliens.

Akimoto will play ‘Team U’ leader Anna, while Miyazawa will play the special attack unit captain, Sawa. Umeda will be vice-leader Misato, Masuda and Kobayashi as maintenance members Nonko and Maomi, Sato as medical officer Riisa, and Shimada as communications chief Hina.

Akimoto commented, “AKB48 and Ultraman are the same when it comes to cheering up fans. I think it’s our mission to give people courage after the disasters.”

“Ultraman Saga” will hit theatres on March 24th.
