AKB48 set Guinness World Record with their game, ‘AKB1/149 Renai Sousenkyo’


AKB48’s PlayStation Portable software, ‘AKB1/149 Renai Sousenkyo‘ (December 20th release), has been certified as “the most number of pop singers featured in a video game” by the Guinness World Records.
On December 6th, members Takahashi MinamiWatanabe Mayu, and Yokoyama Yui held a press conference to represent the group. ’AKB1/149 Renai Sousenkyo’ is a dating simulation game featuring a total of 149 members of the AKB family. In the game, the player must continue to turn down the members who approach them and ultimately choose only one member.
Takahashi praised the group, “I’m honored that a game featuring myself has been acknowledged. 149 people is amazing!
Meanwhile, Watanabe said, “This has been a step toward expanding abroad. Those who are lonely during Christmas, please spend it with all the members who make their appearance in the game.

Capcom releases “Monster Hunter (Tri) G” CM’s featuring NMB48

It was announced earlier this year that NMB48 members Fukumoto Aina, Yamada Nana, and Ogasawara Mayu were chosen as spokesmodels for the upcoming game “Monster Hunter (Tri) G“.
For the commercials the girls dressed in Monster Hunter clothes and appear in the CM with Tokui Yoshimi of comedian duo Tutorial. In the first commercial they are shown interrupting two people in their dressing room and play the game with them. In the second and third CM they interrupt a classroom and play with students who have a 3DS.
The game will be released on December 10th and will be available for the Nintendo 3DS.

EXILE’s AKIRA & TAKAHIRO become image characters for social game, “Seiken Kerberos”

On November 21st, EXILE’s AKIRA and TAKAHIRO attended a CM presentation event for GREE’s social game, “Seiken Kerberos“.
AKIRA, who was rumored to be in a relationship with actress Nagasawa Masami, was asked about his Christmas plans. He responded, “Our concert is near so I want to spend an enjoyable time with the members.” When TAKAHIRO added a follow-up by saying, “I want AKIRA-san to open up his schedule to go on a date with me,” AKIRA laughed and said, “Out of respect, I’ll excuse myself into TAKAHIRO’s room.
“Seiken Kerberos” is a card battle RPG that allows players to go on various adventures to build up the strongest force. The first series of the CM will come in two parts: “AKIRA” and “TAKAHIRO”. It portrays AKIRA and TAKAHIRO as heavily-armed courageous swordsmen who prepare for battle.
For the game’s CM, TAKAHIRO challenged himself to try sword battles and horse riding for the first time. He commented, “I was very scared, but I tried my best not to show my frightened expressions.” Meanwhile, AKIRA, who has personal experience with those two skills, said, “I practiced by watching wonderful acting.” TAKAHIRO added, “He is quick-witted and is very capable. I grew impatient while watching him getting filmed.
The new CM for “Seiken Kerberos” will broadcast starting November 25th.

Arashi reveals their new CMs for ‘Mario Kart 7′!

On November 17th, Arashi broadcasted their new CMs for Nintendo’s “Mario Kart 7”! This popular racing game will be available on December 1st in Japan and 4th in the U.S. for the Nintendo 3DS.
In these endorsement videos, the members of Arashi talks about various aspects of the game while playing it themselves. Arashi fans will definitely want to check out these hilarious CMs, and even go back to an earlier post with Ninomiya Kazunari cosplaying as Super Mario for ‘SUPER MARIO 3D LAND‘.

AKB48’s Kojima Haruna endorses Metal Gear Solid HD edition

Konami’s Kojima Productions have enlisted AKB48’s Kojima Haruna to help promote the game Metal Gear Solid HD Edition. The company has been using the phrase, “Spring (Haru) has come to Kojima Productions”, which is a play on Kojima’s first name; Haruna.
This teaser video shows Kojima sneaking into a building and rewriting the last kanji in “Kojima” to match her name. In addition to this video, Kojima Productions plans on having an interview posted on November 11th and a CM sometime in the near future.

AKB48’s Ohshima Yuko becomes an official ‘Final Fantasy XIII-2′ beta tester

AKB48’s Ohshima Yuko has officially become one of many beta testers for the upcoming Square Enix game, “Final Fantasy XIII-2“. She is also the new face of the FFXIII-2 commercial, which will start airing on October 15th (JST).
Oshima entered the Square Enix building in a gray pants-suit and was handed an official name card and a “FF13-2 Development ROM“.
The AKB48 idol professed that she’s a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series, and was honored to be one of 13 official beta-testers, who go by the name ‘Judge XIII‘. She also wrote in a manifest that they, ‘Judge XIII’, will write their honest thoughts and reviews of the game as they go through it.
A campaign site will be established for ‘Judge XIII’, and if enough fans “like” the website, Ohshima will cosplay as a character and hold an event with the company.
The game will be available on December 15th in Japan, January 31st, 2012 in North America, and February 3, 2012 in Europe.

Do As Infinity reopens their official fan club

After five years, pop duo Do As Infinity (DAI) is reopening their official fan club “Dive At It” on October 11th. The name stems from fan requests when they announced their breakup. New fan club members will get an original face towel as a present. D.A.I is currently working with online website Nico Nico Douga for a new program.
On October 2nd D.A.I is holding their 12th anniversary commemoration live “Do As Inifinity 12th Anniversary ~FREE SOUL! FREE SPIRITS! ~Vol.3~” at Hibiya Kokaido.
D.A.I is also releasing a new single “Tasogare” on November 16th. It will be the ending theme song to video game series “Sengoku BASARA 3 Utage” (which is releasing November 10th by Capcom/PS3/Wii).
Their anniversary live will be broadcasted on Nico Nico Douga and USTREAM.

Nintendo Wii reveals AKB48’s CM for “Just Dance”

Ever wanted to bust a move like your favorite pop stars? Game company Nintendo is making that dream possible with their latest game, “Just Dance“, which will be released nationwide on October 13th.
This Wii game will be jam-packed with hits from various J-pop artists like AKB48, Kara, Exile, Koda Kumi, Amuro Namie, Tohoshinki, and more.
There are a couple of modes in the game, including “Everyone Dance Mode” and “Exercise Mode”. Nine songs are available for “Duet mode” and up to 8 players can dance off in “Dance Battle Mode”.
If those details weren’t exciting enough, Nintendo just shared the “Just Dance Wii” commercial featuring idol group AKB48.

Mizuki Nana to provide theme song for “Mahou Shoujo Ririkaru Nanoha A’s PORTABLE -THE GEARS OF DESTINY-”

Singer/voice actress Mizuki Nana will be contributing her new song, “ROMANCERS’ NEO“, to Playstation Portable’s new game, “Mahou Shoujo Ririkaru Nanoha A’s PORTABLE -THE GEARS OF DESTINY-“, as its theme song.
“ROMANCERS’ NEO” can be found in her upcoming best-of album, “THE MUSEUM II“, which will be released on November 23rd. Other songs to be included in the album are “PHANTOM MINDS“, “Shinai“, “DISCOTHEQUE“, and “Junketsu Paradox“.
Additionally, Mizuki will be holding her one-man live, “NANA MIZUKI LIVE CASTLE 2011“, on December 3rd and 4th at the Tokyo Dome. A special menu will be prepared for fans on both nights; reportedly the first night falls under the theme, “QUEEN’S NIGHT”, while the second night will be “KING’S NIGHT”. Tickets can be purchased for 7,777 yen (approximately $102 USD).

ViViD to release their third single “FAKE” in November!

On September 23rd, it was revealed that ViViD’s third single “FAKE” will be officially released on November 9th!
This song has been announced the theme song for their participating love game by GREE, “Koi to Shigoto to Kimi no Produce”. From the day of opening, around 60,000 people registered for this game as it features various members’ voices for their individual characters.
This upcoming single will include a coupling song titled “Kakera” and will be available in three editions: Limited Edition A, B, and a Regular Edition. Both limited versions of this single will enclose a DVD featuring various video clips and bonus footage of their PV and making. In addition, the regular version will also include a bonus track titled, “Natsu Hana”.

ViViD to appear in love game “Koi to Shigoto to Kimi no Produce”

All the members of the visual kei band ‘ViViD’ will appear in the upcoming GREE game, “Koi to Shigoto to Kimi no Produce“!
In the game, the player is a novice producer in the entertainment industry, who’s in charge of charming musicians. ViViD will appear as one of the artists you are producing as a senior band that everyone admires. The game begins distributing through GREE this August.

Do As Infinity to provide new theme song for “Sengoku BASARA”

Do As Infinity will be providing the ending theme song for “Sengoku BASARA“, the latest game in the popular series!
The duo’s latest song is titled “Tasogare“, and will be released on November 16th as a single. Fans will get to hear the song in “Sengoku BASARA 3″, which officially hits stores for both the PS3 and Wii on November 10th. The song is Do As Infinity’s second tie-up with the series this year, after lending their song “Chikai” to the soundtrack of “Sengoku BASARA CHRONICLE HEROES” this July.
When asked about their latest tie-up, the duo responded, “It suits the game, and it has a nice ending! We’d love for everybody to hear it soon!”
“I sing about the feelings of wanting to live strongly through those times in one’s daily existence when one suddenly feels pain and solitude, without losing sight of one’s faint, dim hopes,” said vocalist Van Tomiko about the slightly melancholy track.
