“ONE PIECE” breaks publishing records with the release of its 64th volume

Popular manga series “ONE PIECE” has released its 64^th volume; publishing company Shueisharevealed on November 4th that 4,000,000 copies of the newest addition to the series had been issued.  This is a first for both the publishing company and Japanese publishing.

Since 1997, Oda Eiichiro’s series has been serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump.”  Since the release of the first volume in the series, there have been a total of 250,000,000 prints and reprints of the series.  In 2010, 3,000,000 copies of the 57^th volume in the series were initially issued; in contrast, only 2,900,000 sets of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” were initially issued in 2004. (Sayzansha, 2004.)  Since then, the number of volumes issued upon release has increased with each new addition to the series.

HEY! HEY! HEY! Music Champ announces K-Pop special for October 10th

HEY! HEY! HEY! Music Champ announced that they are going to air a two-hour-long special on October 10th in order to celebrate the 18th year anniversary of the show.

They also revealed the line-up for the special on their blog and made it clear that it’s going to be full-fledged K-Pop special, but the biggest highlight is going to be the appearance of Tohoshinki, who haven’t been on the show for two years.

The rest of the line-up includes T-ARA, RAINBOW, and AFTERSCHOOL, who are each going to perform medleys of their most popular songs, as well as performances from 2NE1 and FTISLAND.

Child actor Suzuki Fuku is going to be one of the panelists again and he already announced that he is going to dance to “Maru-Maru-Mori-Mori!” together with the girls from AFTERSCHOOL.

However, the show won’t be limited to just K-POP. The long-standing pop & dance group TRF, who have frequently been in the TOP 20 when HEY! HEY! HEY! Music Champ started 18 years ago, are going to perform a special medley that shouldn’t be missed.

Furthermore, it was announced that there is going to be a special collaboration by ‘ONE PIECE‘ and AMEMIYA dedicated to Tohoshinki.

Kitadani Hiroshi’s “We go!” chosen as the theme song for new ONE PIECE anime

Kitadani Hiroshi’s new song “We go!” has been chosen as the theme song for the upcoming chapter of anime series, ONE PIECE.

The anime’s new chapter ‘Saigo no Umi ‘Shinsekai’ hen‘ will begin airing on October 2nd and will show Luffy and his friends, who were separated in the previous series, reunite after 2 years of training.  The newly reunited group will go on an adventure in the new world.

The theme song for this chapter, “We go!”, is made as an answer song for “We are!“.  ”We are!” was ONE PIECE’s very first opening theme song.  Aside from Kitadani on vocals, the lyric writer, Fujibayashi Shoko and composer, Tanaka Kohei, teamed up once again for the new song, despite the lapse of 12 years.

“We go!” is scheduled for release on November 16th.

‘ONE PIECE’ to release bento recipe book

Great news for all the manga fans out there who also love to cook! It’s been revealed that Oda Eiichiro’s popular manga series, “ONE PIECE“, will come out with a special bento recipe book.

Titled “ONE PIECE Kaizoku Character Bento BOOK“, the recipe book will feature bentos designed by famous bento artist, akinoichigo . It will contain various recipes including “Pirate King Bento“, “Chopper Bento“, and “Water 7 Bento“; additionally, there’ll be dessert recipes from cookies to muffins.

The book will also include  a 10-piece character bento kit as a bonus. Fans will find a Luffy & Chopper silicon cup, a Zoro & Sanji die cutting stamp, a Merry & Sunny Go furikake plate, and four pirate flag toothpicks.

The recipe book will be released on September 12th by Shueisha Inc.

ONE PIECE collaborates with Hello Kitty!

It’s just been announced that popular manga/anime series “ONE PIECE” will be collaborating with Sanrio’s Hello Kitty brand for a new series of products called, “ONE PIECE×HELLO KITTY“.

The designs for this series revolves around the concept  of ONE PIECE character Chopper coming to play in Hello Kitty’s world. Starting in November, approximately 20 companies will gradually release products ranging from stationery, clothes, fashion accessories, and miscellaneous goods. Sanrio will release about 350 different products from the line within the year.
