TVXQ places 1st on a popularity poll

TVXQ secured 1st place on an unofficial popularity poll held online while the ’62nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen’ was being broadcast on on December 31st.
Despite the fact that only fans within Japan were able to vote without the help of other international or Korean fans, TVXQ was able to set a record, obtaining 49.7% of the votes to secure 1st place.
Considering that ‘Kohaku Uta Gassen’ is Japan’s biggest year-end music festival, being invited as only one of the three Korean artists to perform at the event speaks for the level of popularity they have reached in Japan.
Dressed in black and white, Yunho and Changmin performed ‘”Why? (Keep Your Head Down)” in front of the cheering crowd, and thanked the fans for their support.
Girls’ Generation and KARA also ranked 5th and 20th, respectively on the poll as well.
Check out TVXQ’s performance below, if you haven’t already!

TVXQ becomes the #1 searched male celebrity in Japan for 2011

TVXQ has become the #1 searched term for the male celebrity category in Japan.
On December 8th, MSN Japan‘s ‘Keyword Search Yearly Ranking 2011′ reported that TVXQ had beat out popular Japanese artists to place 1st in the top 50 of the male celebrities category.
Additionally, the group came in #2 on Yahoo Japan‘s ’2011 Search Word Ranking’ in the famous males category, right after the popular Japanese group Arashi.

It’s been revealed that Korean group TVXQ’s “Tone” release has charted first on the Oricon weekly album chart! Released on September 28th, the album ranked first on the Oricon daily album chart and has maintained its place all week-long, recording 205,000 copies in sales.
On October 4th, Oricon reported, “By recording 205,000 in sales, TVXQ has risen to the top of the Oricon weekly album chart.  This is the first time in 11 years and four months since Bon Jovi’s ‘Crash‘ that a foreign male artist has sold over 200,000 copies in the first week alone.”
They continued, “This is also TVXQ’s first time since their ‘Best Selection 2010′ album a year and seven months ago that they’ve returned to the Oricon weekly album chart, and is considered their first album to rank at the top.  In addition, 205,000 copies sold in their first week is the best they’ve achieved so far in regards to their full studio album releases.”
Although TVXQ has achieved first place on the Oricon weekly singles chart nine times, this is their first time ranking first on the weekly album chart with an official album, not a best of album.

TVXQ promotes Japanese album ‘TONE’ with a 15-meter poster

A 15-meter poster has been installed in Japan’s Shinjuku area to celebrate TVXQ‘s new Japanese album!
On September 27th, a large-scale poster of TVXQ measuring 15 meters high and 9 meters wide was set up at Shinjuku Station Square in Tokyo, Japan. It’s the largest poster ever to be displayed at this location, so it definitely reflects the high anticipation fans in Japan have for TVXQ’s comeback.
It’s not just the size of the poster that’s drawn everyone’s attention — the poster also holds the autographs of members Yunho and Changmin. Additionally, the area was lit up with colored lights to represent the red, blue, and yellow versions of TVXQ’s album, ‘TONE‘.
Meanwhile, the large-scale poster (which will be on display until the 29th) is just one of the many marketing strategies that TVXQ has been using to promote their new album. In addition to the poster, there’s also been a ‘TVXQ train’ that’s been running since the 17th, and promotional trucks with ‘TONE’ jacket images plastered on the sides have been playing TVXQ’s tracks on the streets of Tokyo.
With the hype that’s going around, we can expect to see a hot response from the Japanese crowd when the albums drops on September 28th.
Get ready Cassiopeia, because Yunho and Changmin are gearing up to rock your world once again!

TVXQ’s Yunho talks about performing at the Tokyo Dome for the second time

On September 4th, the TVXQ duo met with reporters after they performed at the ‘SM Town Live in Tokyo‘ concert at the Tokyo Dome.
It’s the second time in two years for TVXQ to perform at this prestigious venue, the first being back in 2009. Yunho expressed how honored he felt to hold a stage there once again, as he said, “The Tokyo Dome is a special place for TVXQ in particular. We’ve received the opportunity to stand on it once again, but this time with our company family members. It’s a lot more meaningful this time around.”
He continued, “We had a period of hiatus, so we’re grateful that so many people showed up.  As opposed to hoping for TVXQ to maintain their popularity, I want to continue to try new things.  Since our juniors are doing so well and are making their way up, we have to act as seniors and continue to work our way out.”
Concluding, Yunho added, “More than anything, we enjoyed ourselves at the concert.  It’s rare to find a concert where every single person is enjoying themselves so I hope that we’re able to continue this feeling into our future stages.”
TVXQ performed a string of their hit tracks including “Rising Sun“, “Mirotic“, “Superstar“, “Keep Your Head Down“, as well as a song off of their new September single, “B.U.T.”

From September 2nd through the 4th, the Tokyo Dome shook with the cheers of 150,000 fans, all cheering for their favorite artists during the ‘SM Town Live in Tokyo‘ concerts.
For three days, SM Entertainment labelmates BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x), CSJH, Kim Min Jong, Kang Ta, and many others came together for the second time since January. Over 600,000 fans applied for tickets, leading SM to add another concert date.
The concert kicked off with an impressive opening video and then ballad performances by Kim Min Jong and Kang Ta.  SNSD was up next with their own hit tracks, while TVXQ followed with Super Junior. tThe label’s maknae groups, SHINee and f(x), rounded out the stage.
Shindong, Eunhyuk, Minho, and Key also came out with a fun hip hop performance of “A-Yo“.
TVXQ and SNSD in particular impressed fans by conversing with them in fluent Japanese throughout the concert. There were a lot of collaboration stages between the groups as well, such as Jessica and Krystal‘s “Tik Tok” and Seohyun and Kyuhyun‘s “Way Back Into Love“.
Akigawa Masafumi, a Japanese popera singer, collaborated with Ryeowook, Yesung, and Onew for “A Thousand Winds“.
Fans were also delighted to see Sulli and Kang Ta interact for their “7989” stage, during which Kang Ta handed her a rose and drew jealous screams from fangirls and fanboys alike.
