U-KISS talks about their “embarrassing debut concept”

On December 20th, U-KISS revealed their true feelings about their debut through the MBN story-cumentary (story documentary), ‘My Story‘.
When asked about their first album’s title track, “I’m Not Young“, Dongho confessed, “The song itself is okay, but I get so embarrassed when I look back on our performances and music video that I don’t know what to do with my hands. Still, it helps me feel like I’ve truly grown since then.”
Leader Soohyun stated, “We’ve been coming out with masculine, sexy images lately, but back then, we were just cute. They always told us to act cute and laugh where necessary so looking at it now, I really can’t bear it. It gives me goosebumps.”
The boys also admitted that their debut concept didn’t sit so well with the public, leading to a fretful year of identity changes.
Dongho explained, “In our rehearsal room, all of us sat in a circle and discussed a lot of things about problems with our company and within the group. There were a lot of fights that resulted from it, but it was an opportunity for us to get closer as a group.”
Concluding with a comment on how the group tried a variety of genres, Dongho added, “Our members love challenging ourselves with new things.”

T-ara makes a surprise appearance on ‘Gag Concert’

*Sorry! No English Subtitle.
With the exception of Ham Eunjung, the six ladies of T-ara transformed into ‘slap princesses’ on a recent episode of ‘Gag Concert‘.
Following the Wonder Girls, SNSD, and singer IU, the T-ara girls recently served as surprise guests on the ‘GamSuSung‘ corner of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Gag Concert‘ on December 18th.
On this episode, the girls were held captive and were commanded by Kim Junho to simply walk by him if they were to become citizens of their land, but if they opposed, to slap his face.
One by one, the girls opposed and slapped his face as they walked by. Member Q-ri displayed her strength during her turn, and Kim Junho hilariously remarked that she had hit the hardest out of all of them.
Member Jiyeon also expressed her frustration as they told her she needed to marry the barbarian to become a citizen of their land, and Hyomin continued the laughs by expressing her own complaints as well.

SNSD’s Seohyun loses her temper

SNSD member Seohyun showed a surprising new side of herself.
The first episode of JTBC‘s ‘SNSD and Troubled Teens‘ aired on December 18th, where SNSD had a chance to meet with and talk to the boys for the very first time.
As the girls watched a video clip of the rebellious boys in need of a loving touch, they could not hold back their shock.
Member Seohyun who is known to be an upright young woman was especially frustrated, and she adorably lost her temper for the first time ever since SNSD’s debut. Seohyun’s face was stiff for the entire time she watched the boys’ video clip, and once it was over she remarked, “It’s unfortunate that these boys are living without a dream or any real plans.”
And during a time of counseling where she and fellow member Taeyeon spoke privately to one of the boys, Seohyun was in disbelief over his careless attitude and surprised everyone by exclaiming, “Hey, you can’t live like that!”
‘SNSD and Troubled Teens’ is a program where the girls have an opportunity to mentor young teenage boys and watch them change and develop over time. The program airs every Sunday at 7:30PM KST on JTBC.

Japan Box Office Report – December 10th/11th

"Kaibutsu-kun" / "Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider" / "Real Steel"
For the weekend of December 10th and 11th, “Kamen Rider” took over the box office chart, followed by new entries “Real Steel” and “Genji Monodatari“.
The new “Kamen Rider” feature-length movie, “Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Fourze & OOO: Movie War Mega Max” attracted 333,200 people over the weekend and debuted in first place. It grossed 378,422,200 Yen (4.86 million USD), which was a slightly better result than the two most recent movies in the series, “Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider OOO & W Featuring Skull: Movie War Core” and “Kamen Rider OOO Wonderful: The Shogun and the 21 Core Medals“.
Kaibutsu-kun” was beaten by “Kamen Rider” this weekend, but it’s still doing great at the box office. A total of 1,200,000 saw the movie already, resulting in a cumulative revenue of over 1.6 billion Yen (20.55 million USD). The threshold of 2 billion should get broken by the upcoming weekend.
American movie “Real Steel” opened on 3rd place. As usual for Western movies, it already opened prior to the weekend, but the weekend box office chart only counts the results of Saturday and Sunday. During those two days, 176,254 people went to theaters to see the movie, allowing it to earn a revenue of 225,279,650 Yen (2.89 million USD).
The anime “K-On!” dropped down to 4th place. Its total revenue is currently at 691,086,400 Yen (8.87 million USD).
Menawhile, the much-anticipated new adaption of “Genji Monodatari“, starring Ikuta Toma, Nakatani Miki, and more, only opened on 5th place. Attracting only 128,825 people and creating a revenue of 163,760,300 Yen (2.1 million USD) is a disappointing result reminiscent of last year’s “Norwegian Wood“, which also failed at the box office chart despite the positive comments prior and during its screening in theaters.
Next weekend, the top position will be challenged by “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol“.
Check out the trailers of all the Japanese movies that opened this weekend below!

Sakurai Sho & Matsumoto Jun to make guest appearance on Ohno Satoshi’s special drama

It’s been announced that Arashi members Sakurai Sho and Matsumoto Jun will make guest appearance on fellow member Ohno Satoshi’s upcoming special drama “Mou Yuukai nante Shinai“.
This special drama is a comical mystery about a freeter (Ohno) who receives the odd request to fake the kidnapping of racketeer boss daughter, (Aragaki Yui).
Sakurai will appear in the special drama as the butler “Kageyama” which is from Sakurai’s ongoing drama “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de“, while Matsumoto will make an appearance as “Tokita Shuntaro” which is from Matsumoto’s upcoming “Getsu9″ drama “Lucky Seven.”
The announcement for Sakurai and Matsumoto’s guest appearance on Ohno’s drama was made during the press conference for “Fuku Arashi” campaign which is to promote the special TV programs on Fuji TV in which Arashi appears at the end of the year and New Year season.  There will be a special CM for the campaign starring Arashi during December 17th ~ January 3rd for a limited term, and on Fuji TV’s official site, there will also be an original game “Fuku Arashi Warai.”
At the press conference, Sakurai who received the script for the drama a few days ago, commented, “I saw Ohno’s name on the first page, and my name and Matsumoto’s name on the following pages on the script.  I’m happy to see it, so I am carrying it around with me everyday.”  Matsumoto also commented, “He (Ohno) has different atmosphere at the shoot for drama which is not Arashi-like.  So I’m looking forward to see it at the shoot.
On the other hand, other members Ninomiya Kazunari and Aiba Masaki seem to be little dissatisfied, as Aiba said to Ohno at the press conference, “Ohno-kun, what about us? Though we don’t have any role we have with us right now, it’s not too late if you guys are still shooting.  Where are you guys filming at?“, and Ninomiya also said, “I haven’t been offered yet. I don’t mind if I have to meet you at the filming location.”  Unfortunately, Ohno refused them saying, “Not this time.” Therefore the two said while consoling each other, “Shall we do our best on ‘VS Arashi‘ then?
“Mou Yuukai nante Shinai” is scheduled to be aired on January 3rd on Fuji TV.
