Yoseob expresses his nervousness on duet performance with IU

On December 29th, B2ST‘s Yoseob had a wonderful duet performance with IU at the 2011 SBS Gayo Daejun.
On January 2nd, SBS E! K-Star News aired a special featuring some backstage footage from the Gayo Daejun and it seems Yoseob was quite nervous for the performance.
Before the performance, he had a short interview session with a reporter:
Yoseob: I’m singing a song with IU sunbaenim.
Reporter: What song is it?
Yoseob: “If you want a lover.”
Reporter: If you were really to have a girlfriend what would you do with her?
Yoseob: Go to the amusement park and have a surprising event as well.
Reporter: If you were to date IU?
Yoseob: I’m so nervous and shy, how can that happen? I can barely even sing with her.
After the performance, both IU and Yoseob were asked how the performance went. While IU seemed perfectly fine answering, “It was fun,” Yoseob on the other replied, “I was shaking… I really was shaking… Ah, I feel so shy.”
Check out their wonderful duet performance below!

’2011 MBC Gayo Daejaejun’, the most problematic year-end show of 2011?

The ’2011 MBC Gayo Daejaejun’ was an event greatly anticipated by K-Pop fans all over the world. However, when D-Day came on December 31st, fans and artists alike were disappointed by the outcome of the show.
The show’s performances were filled with a multitude of errors and problems, ruining the effect of the stages and wasting hours of rehearsals. The most noticeable mishaps arose during the performances of U-KISS, MBLAQ, Shin Moon Hee, SHINee, Wonder Girls, and 2PM.
U-KISS’s performance suffered from communication problems between the group and the production staff. After the MCs’ introduction of the group, the scene changed to show U-KISS on stage. However, the group had no idea that the screen had been switched over to them, and was shocked to hear “0330″ begin to play. U-KISS improvised quickly and launched into their performance, which they managed to pull off successfully.
But the damage was done, for their confused expressions were caught on camera and broadcasted around the world. They also  experienced problems with the sound and their mics.
MBLAQ was probably the biggest victim of the night in terms of sound and mic problems. Their whole performance of “Mona Lisa“ was riddled with synching problems between the music and the mics. The members’ frustrated expressions could be seen as they struggled to keep up with the music.
Vocalist Shin Moon Hee faced a very embarrassing situation during her performance as well. One part of her stage called for a lift into the air — unfortunately, the train of her skirt was caught on an object, and she was forced to grab onto her skirt for dear life to prevent it from being ripped off. Thankfully, the skirt ripped lower down, and she narrowly escaped unwanted exposure during a live performance.
SHINee’s stage seemed pretty smooth up until the part where they were supposed to put on a teaser performance of their comeback song. Fans weren’t able to see it, however, for the production team had switched the screen to introduce the next performer.
The Wonder Girls also suffered from various sound and mic problems during their much anticipated “Me, In” performance, upsetting viewers and fans’ all over the world who had been waiting for a live performance of the song.
One of the most obvious mishaps from the night came during 2PM’s performance. Although they didn’t suffer from mic and sound problems, a big portion of their performance was blocked from view by giant balls that had migrated onto the stage. 2PM later poked fun at their ball-filled performance by tweeting a New Year’s greetings that incorporated “gohng” (the Korean word for “ball”) as much as they could into their tweets.
With so many problems and errors, it’s probably safe to say that the ’2011 MBC Gayo Daejaejun’ will be remembered as one of the most problematic year-end shows in recent memory. It’s a shame to see the hard work of the artists being ruined by the lack of preparation and communication by the broadcast station.

Woollim Entertainment assures fans that INFINITE’s L is alright

On December 31st, INFINITE‘s L was seen being helped up by his fellow members after falling on stage during the ’2011 MBC Gayo Daejaejun’.
A day later, L’s agency Woollim Entertainment assured concerned fans that “L fell in the middle of the extended stage… Although it could have been a dangerous situation, he did not suffer any injuries. There is no need to worry.”
With it being the first day of the new year in Korea, L and the other members of INFINITE will be taking a much needed break for the first time in a long while. Their break won’t last too long, however, as the boys will have to start preparing for their first solo concert in February. L will also be filming for his new drama.
Catch L on the first episode of tvN’s “Shut Up Flower Boy Band” on January 30th!
Meanwhile, check out INFINITE’s performances from last night if you haven’t seen it already. (L is seen falling around the 4:40 mark)

TVXQ places 1st on a popularity poll

TVXQ secured 1st place on an unofficial popularity poll held online while the ’62nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen’ was being broadcast on on December 31st.
Despite the fact that only fans within Japan were able to vote without the help of other international or Korean fans, TVXQ was able to set a record, obtaining 49.7% of the votes to secure 1st place.
Considering that ‘Kohaku Uta Gassen’ is Japan’s biggest year-end music festival, being invited as only one of the three Korean artists to perform at the event speaks for the level of popularity they have reached in Japan.
Dressed in black and white, Yunho and Changmin performed ‘”Why? (Keep Your Head Down)” in front of the cheering crowd, and thanked the fans for their support.
Girls’ Generation and KARA also ranked 5th and 20th, respectively on the poll as well.
Check out TVXQ’s performance below, if you haven’t already!
