On November 29th, AKB48 sub-unit Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 held a release event for their new single, “Kibou Sanmyaku“, at the ‘Tomoshibi‘ Utagoe Coffeehouse in Shinjuku.
‘Tomoshibi’ is known as the founder of the Utagoe Coffeehouse, a type of coffeehouse that features customers singing songs together, which was popular during 1955 to 1975. Wearing a retro red dress, the girls sang their new song, “Kibou Sanmyaku”, which was received favorably by the crowd.
Member Watanabe Mayu promoted their single brightly, as she said, “This is an unusual song with a lot of impact. I want many people to listen to it.” Then, all 7 members exclaimed, “Our goal is to top the Oricon charts!”
The girls also expressed their ambition to perform on NHK’s “Kohaku Uta Gassen“, not as AKB48, but as Watarirouka Hashiritai 7. Watanabe commented, “If they let us! We also want to hold a solo live with just the 7 of us.”
